December marks the sowing season in Malawi, Africa. Edward, a Malawian student who has just returned home after studying at the “Science and Technology Backyard” in Quzhou, Hebei, at China Agricultural University, is now applying the agricultural knowledge he gained in China to provide professional planting guidance to local farmers. Originally pioneered by China Agricultural University in Quzhou County, Hebei Province, the “Science and Technology Backyard” model is quietly transforming Malawi’s agricultural landscape.
From the experimental fields of the “Science and Technology Backyard” in Quzhou, Hebei, to the vast farmlands of Africa, students like Edward are helping Chinese solutions reach the world. By focusing on “teaching people how to fish,” this approach is making tangible contributions to global food security.
