Forty years ago, Xi Jinping, then Party Secretary of Zhengding County in Hebei Province, led a corn delegation from Shijiazhuang City to Iowa, known as the "America's Breadbasket," to exchange knowledge on corn cultivation and deep-processing technologies. That spring visit sowed the seeds of friendship.
Forty years later, the seeds of China-U.S. people-to-people friendship have grown into a towering tree. Young American students from Muscatine were invited to visit Zhengding, China, where they witnessed the remarkable achievements in advancing agricultural and rural modernization, and experienced the deep bonds of friendship built over four decades between Hebei Province and the state of Iowa.
Today, American youth Emily personally explores the ever-changing ancient city of Zhengding and experiences the technological innovations in Hebei's modern agricultural and livestock farms.
